Antique Flooring & More...

The Old Wood Workshop offers salvaged antique flooring, resawn or remilled antique flooring, wide board flooring and vintage recycled building materials in chestnut, oak and pine. Our inventory of architectural antiques, such as antique iron hardware, antique doors, antique stone, fireplace mantels, and other unique items is always changing. Our antique flooring inventory is updated frequently online and through our mailing list.

The Old Wood Workshop can provide quality antique wood for homeowners as well as building contractors, designers or architects. We also supply small batch stock for cabinetmakers, furniture makers or other woodworking projects. Our supply of sawn and hand-hewn beams is available for rustic fireplace mantels and we also have an inventory of table-top or countertop stock.

The Old Wood Workshop is a small family business. Although we do not have traditional retail hours, you are welcome to visit us in Pomfret Center, Connecticut. We are available by chance but strongly suggest making an appointment. Our 1730s Colonial farmhouse home features remilled antique floors and custom-made Shaker-style furniture.

What's New?

FOR SALE! 2009 Wood-mizer LT40:  This is my second Wood-mizer portable band-saw over the past 15 years.  After 12 years, I sold my first one, but after a year I realized I couldn’t do without one (even though I had less than 40 hours on that one).  This Wood-mizer has all the features of the LT40 standard model, plus the trailer package, Simple Set,debarker, manual log turner and manual toe boards.  The engine is a Kohler 28HP gas. The saw& engine have only 54 hours(at this time) total run time on them and have been well maintained.

It has also been housed under a large covered greenhouse. It can saw boards up to 28” wide and 21’ long. It is on a trailer and can be registered with plates and transported with just about any truck or large SUV.  Also included are over 50 extra blades because I only saw with a super sharp blade.  New blades cost $315 for #15 + shipping.  The reason for an average of 10 hours per year is that I only saw chestnut and super wide oak or white pine.  I’ve never hired out commercially.  It is in fantastic condition.  This saw new would cost over $23,000 including tax and delivery.

Cost:  $16,500 FIRM

In August 2013 we desconstructed the ell section of our 1730s home in Pomfret in order to rebuild it. Here are a couple images of the process.

Old Wood Workshop is growing! We have added this greenhouse for additional inventory and equipment storage. Check out our Facebook page for additional images of the construction process.
