Resawn or remilled flooring is produced from antique beams and planks. It is uniformly dimensioned by width and thickness. Resawn antique flooring is a great choice if you want the warmth and character of antique wood and also want a relatively smooth and flat surface with uniform dimensions. It is also the best choice if you have a large area to cover because it can be produced in large quantities. Pricing is based on the type of wood and range of widths.
Our resawn chestnut is generally milled to 3/4" thickness, butt-edge boards, in random lengths from 2 to 12 feet +/- and random widths of 3" to 12+". Most flooring can be tongue and grooved for an additional cost.
Antique
chestnut has fantastic character due to its grain patterns, coloring, knots,
nail and worm holes. It is also prized for its durability and resistance to
rot and insect damage. Once one of the most important woodland species on
the East Coast, the American Chestnut became virtually extinct due to a blight
in the early twentieth century. Visit the American
Chestnut Foundation for history.
Re-sawn Chestnut pricing is generally based on width:
3" to 5" widths = $14.50/sf
6" to 9" widths = $17.50/sf
9" to 12" widths = $21.50/sf, depending on availability
