Harvest Tables
The
Old Wood Workshop produces harvest tables, farm tables, tavern tables, dining
tables, coffee tables and occasional tables, all featuring reclaimed antique
wood. We offer tables with hand-planed antique wood tops (usually American
Chestnut) and several different style bases, including Shaker-style and turned
legs.
We produce two types of tables:
- custom tables built to a client's specifications entirely from antique wood (example shown right)
- tables with antique wood tops and quality reproduction painted hardwood bases that feature William & Mary or Sheraton style turned legs (examples shown below)
Each
table is constructed one at a time and built to last generations. The antique
wood retains a beautiful patina and rich color that is highlighted when oiled.
The nail holes, knots and worm tunnels lend to the unique character of the
wood. We also sell small batches of raw antique wood or milled boards to cabinetmakers,
master craftsmen and homeowners for their woodworking and furniture-making
projects. We carry a small inventory ideal for
tabletop or counter-top stock.
We
do not have a traditional showroom or retail hours, but our 1730s home in
northeastern Connecticut (formerly a bed & breakfast) is furnished with
