Original Chimney Surround (#1)
Original built-in feature from 1780s Grafton, MA, house that was built around the interior chimneystack. Measures 26&1/2” deep x 46” wide x approx. 88” tall. The crown molding sticks out 3” on each side. The mantel (remove for transport) measures 5&3/4” deep and about the same width as the unit. It was most likely an added on feature and could be left off.
This is the only surround that has a built in cupboard and door on the left side. The shelves are 9” deep with plate groves. The door is 15&5/8” wide x 35&3/4” tall. The H hinges are 4&1/2”. A 4”x4” cut out for an electrical box is on the lower left side panel. Fireboxes inside dimensions are 31&5/8” wide x 27” high. This unit was taken out as a whole with just the mantelshelf being removed, but included.
